Abstract

In this paper, the measurement system for digital terrestrial television broadcasting is proposed in order to identify the reflection points of the propagation paths. The aim of identifying the reflection points is that they are used for detailed analysis of reception characteristics in the service area using the ray tracing scheme. This can be useful for designing the service area of the SFN gap filler that compensates the service area where direct signal from the main station is under shadowing. In the proposed system, the fixed directional reference antenna and the rotating antenna are used. By using time base reference obtained from the fixed directional antenna, the arrival direction and relative delay can be precisely estimated against major propagation paths and their reflection points are also estimated by using these parameters. The actual measurement was performed using the proposed measurement system and it was confirmed that precise identification of the reflection points is possible.
