Abstract

1. 1. An extract of acidic components of horse urine has been fractionated by ion-exchange chromatography. 2. 2. Twelve phenolic acids present in these fractions have been identified by combined gas—liquid chromatography and mass spectroscopy of their trimethylsilyl ether-trimethylsflyl esters. 3. 3. A further 4 phenolic acids have been identified by a multiple peak monitoring technique using the combined gas-liquid Chromatograph and mass spectrometer. 4. 4. Mass spectra of the trimethylsilyl ether-trimetbybilyl esters of 15 phenolic acids are reported 5. 5. Retention values of the trimethylsilyl ether-trimethylsilyi esters of 16 phenolic acids are reported.
