Abstract

The management of urban solid waste is becoming a challenge not only for associations of collectors, but also for society. The main activity of cooperatives is to collect and transform solid waste into materials that can be reintegrated into the process of other companies or organizations. The objective of this research was to identify methodologies used for Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA), as well as to identify where and how they were applied. The methodology used was the literature review. The SLCA surveys were used in several research areas, and no research was found related to recyclable material collectors. As suggestions for future work, we propose the development of an SLCA methodology that can be validated and applied in Cooperatives of Collectors of Recyclable Materials.
