Abstract

Landslide hazard along China-Nepal road corridors in the Kali Gandaki valley is one of the major natural hazards. In this research, the random forest method was used to calculate the landslide sensitivity index (LSI) of settlements along the Kali Gandaki valley and identify the landslide susceptible area. The results show that the AUC of random forest model is up to 0.876 where about 20% of the settlements are located in the landslide risk area. The settlements lie in the southern slopes along this corridor has higher LSI and mostly concentrated on the southern slope of the Himalaya
