Abstract
Differences between the centromeric regions of mouse and human chromosomes have been revealed with a staining technique which is based on the quenching by 5-bromodeoxyuridine of the fluorescence of the dye 33258 Hoechst. The differences can be used to distinguish between human and mouse chromosomes in human-mouse hybrids.
