Abstract

A multivariate model was developed to calibrate the flaxseed-oil content in binary mixtures with unrefined sunflower oil using UV, visible, and near-IR optical-density spectra; was based on principal-component analysis, cluster analysis, and the linear method of interval projection to latent structures; and is characterized by a smaller rootmean-square error (0.12%) than the classical interpretable model (0.42%) and the multivariate model (0.63%) using the full measured spectral range.
