Abstract

Seven positional isomers (Δ5M-Δ11) of dodecenyl acetate were analyzed, without any prior chemical modifications by combined gas-liquid chromatography-electron impact mass spectrometry. The position of the double bonds in the alkenes could be located by the relative intensities of the predominant fragment ions, depending upon whether or not the value of the ratio was over unity.
