Abstract

The inverse problem under consideration deals with identification of unknown defects included in structural components by means of the boundary element method using measured data as additional information. In most inverse problems, identification results are much influenced by errors included in the measured data. The present paper is concerned with a boundary element method simulation to investigate how the measurement errors influences the identification results. Numerical experiment is carried out for the case where the given displacement information includes probabilistic errors with a normal distribution.
