Abstract

A parametric representation of ultra-wideband radar signatures is introduced and its application to identification of buried objects is described. First, a parametric model of scattering system and corresponding parametric representation of radar signatures is derived. Next, as a practical application of the parametric representation, these parameters are used as features for buried object identification. Using ground penetrating radar (GPR) data measured by laboratory experiments, identification performance of buried objects is demonstrated.
