1 Iodoacetamide was found to inactivate pig heart mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase in a pseudo first order reaction. 2 Two moles of 14C-labelled reagent per mole of enzyme are incorporated into the protein. 3 The reactive residue was identified by amino acid analysis and thin layer chromatography as a histidine alkylated at nitrogen 3.
