Abstract

Abstract In addition to the 7 races of Plasmodiophora brassicae Wor. previously isolated in New Zealand from crops of turnips, swedes, and rape, another race (designated H) has been isolated from broccoli. Race H was identified in a glasshouse experiment where its pathogenicity was compared with that of race E on 38 cultivars of Brassica. Race H was highly pathogenic to kale cv. Rawara as well as to some cultivars of rape (including cv. Giant) but non-pathogenic to all cultivars of turnip and swede included in the test.
