Abstract

In the medium- and high-frequency domains, wavenumber information is of great importance. This paper presents a new method that can identify the dispersion equation in two-dimensional structures. From a complete displacement field, the calculation of correlation between this field and inhomogeneous waves gives a complete identification of damped travelling waves. This method is able to identify a complete dispersion curve and hence to obtain an orthotropic equivalent plate model. Wave attenuation is also obtained, through a spatial damping. The method is validated over the experimental simple case consisting of an isotropic thin plate. Finally, the paper proposes a numerical application to ribbed panels.
