Abstract

Objective To study the clinical value of identification code for reducing the mess and error rate of medical instruments at department of stomatology at central sterile supply department. Methods Medical instruments collected from each department were attached to water-fast and heat resisting wooden identification code through the processes of recycle, classification, cleaning, disinfection, drying, inspection maintenance, and packaging and to seal identification code through the processes of sterilization, storage, and issuing back to the department. Results After the application of identification code, the mess and error rate of medical instruments was significantly reduced (χ2=9.49, P<0.05). Conclusions Seal identification code has important significance for improving work efficiency and reducing the mess and error rate.
