Abstract

To determine allelic relationships among the banding patterns of polymorphic enzymes, selfed populations were developed from open-pollinated varieties of Raphanus sativus L. In the polymorphic isozyme zones, the segregation of the banding patterns was tested against monogenic segregation. Polymorphism for phosphoglucomutase (PGM) and shikimate dehydrogenase (SDH) was detected by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. One and six polymorphic loci were detected for PGM and SDH, respectively. These seven loci showed monogenic segregation and were tentatively designated PGM-4, SDH-1, SDH-2, SDH-3, SDH-4, SDH-5, and SDH-6. Linkage relations were present between SDH-4 and SDH-5, SDH-4 and SDH-6, and SDH-1 and SDH-3, with recombination values of 3.75 ± 3.5%, 22.3 ± 6.2%, and 48.6 ± 7.4%, respectively.
