Abstract

The rotational spectra of dimers (PH3,HX) formed by phosphine with the hydrogen halides (X = Cl and Br) have been detected by pulsed-nozzle, Fourier-transform microwave spectroscopy and have been interpreted in favour of a dimer gemetry belonging to the C3v point group, with HX lying along the C3 axis of PH3 and oriented so that it forms a hydrogen bond to the phosphorus atom.
