Abstract

Three transfection methods were evaluated to establish a system for DNA transfection into a chicken macrophage cell line. The calcium phosphate method was determined to be the most efficient. Results from transient expression assays using the chicken macrophage cell line demonstrated that a 0.7 kb DNA fragment from a chicken MHC class n gene 5' flanking region contains a functional promoter, but may need additional enhancers outside this re^on for maximal promoter activity. ^Advances in Avian Immunological Research.
