Abstract

The article makes an attempt at an analysis of a concept of religous alienation which is crucial for understanding of alienation criticism of religion, the trend that involves such thinkers as Ludwig Feuerbach, Karl Marks, Sigmunt Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche and nowadays Slavoj Žižek. n the first part of the article it is proved that a concept of alienation which according to the trend mentioned above is thought to have derived from Hegel, in fact lies in a far earlier theological - religious tradition. The second part of the article presents in short an evolution processof the concept. Finally, part three focuses on contemporary contexts of its understanding exampled by thought of Slavoj Žižek and Daniel Dennett.
