Abstract

In assessing intakes of radioactivity, bioassay and in vivo retention, experimental data must be compared with biokinetic model predictions. The choice of model parameters and weighting of data from different sources requires judgement and experience on the part of the dosimetrist. In the project described in this paper, knowledge-based programming techniques are being developed to aid the dosimetrist in the various decision making procedures which contribute to an internal dose assessment. Some of the principles which need to be incorporated in such a system are discussed and the current status of the Internal Dosimetry Assessment (IDA) system is described
