Abstract

Negative pressure wound therapy is a common treatment of choice for complex external wounds. Recently, it has been adapted for internal use, which has led to the development of endoluminal vacuum therapy (EVAC), which can be utilized to avoid damage control surgeries and reduce morbidity and mortality rates. EVAC has been growing in popularity; however, how the procedure is performed varies from center to center. Besides, there is a lack of standardization of the equipment used for EVAC, and most centers currently use custom-made products made prior to each procedure. This abstract aims to present two different methods of performing endoluminal vacuum therapy and highlights the essential steps in successful closure. We also aim to reach the broad gastroenterology public about endo sponge therapy basics and describe how the procedure is performed.
