Abstract

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (TTS) occurs with injury to the tibial nerve due to entrapment underneath the retinaculum, fracture, previous ankle injury, or an iatrogenic etiology etc. Surgical treatment has been the mainstay of TTS, but failure of a tarsal tunnel release has been reported to be as high as 40-60% and as low as 5% [1]. The literature on therapeutic options for TTS is sparse [2,3]. We present a novel case of percutaneous peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) of the tibial nerve to treat refractory TTS / tibial neuropathy.
