Abstract

Intrathecal drug delivery systems (IDDS) are commonly utilized for many refractory chronic pain conditions and cancer associated pain. Manufacturer recommendations are available for physicians and MRI facilities to review prior to obtaining a scan1. We discuss a case in which IDDS malfunction occurred following MRI, despite following manufacturer instructions prior to and after MRI, resulting in profound medication overdose.
