Abstract

Amplicoat is an advanced conductive polymer coating currently used for acute diagnostic applications like EP catheters. Amplicoat is based on PEDOT but thanks to its advanced formulation it exhibits outstanding electrical and durability properties as compared to PEDOT:PSS [1]. It lowers the impedance of the Pt/Ir electrodes by more than 99% (Figure 1) and increases the charge storage capacity (CSC) by 20x (Figure 2) and charge injection capacity (CIC) by 7x-10x. Thereby, improving the signal to noise ratio, increasing the efficiency of sensing and stimulation applications, and increasing the battery lifetime [2] (Figure 3). Its ease of application enables us to precisely coat miniaturized precious metal electrodes, further supporting electrode miniaturization and targeted therapies for Neuromodulation applications. Laser structuring was used to improve Amplicoat adhesion to Pt/Ir electrodes and is named Amplicoat+. This combination improved the durability of Amplicoat further for chronic Neuromodulation applications.
