Abstract

Intrathecal drug delivery device is an FDA-approved therapy for chronic pain management. The therapy is generally safe, but few serious complications have been reported. The complications related to implantation, device mechanical failure, and during reservoir refill are well described but issues related to refill when drug concentration has changed is less well described. We described a case of potential drug overdose during reservoir refill despite following all safety protocol.
