Abstract

Spasticity, weakness, and pain of affected extremities is common in post stroke patients. There are several treatment modalities that can target each of these. Treatment of spasticity can be pursued with noninvasive (stretching, casting, medications) or invasive (Botox injections, intrathecal baclofen) options [1]. There is literature supporting effect of cutaneous electrical stimulation on spasticity but there is a lack of literature pertaining to implanted stimulators [2]. SPRINT peripheral nerve stimulation is effective in the treatment of hemiplegic poststroke shoulder pain and is the earliest studied and most widely accepted application for PNS technology [3, 4, 5, 6].
