Abstract
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has been shown to effectively relieve chronic intractable pain. However, in a portion of patients,1 the therapeutic benefits of SCS wane over time. Stimulation of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) can provide more effective treatment to patients with complex regional pain syndrome and peripheral causalgia than SCS due in part to more focused relief of their painful areas.2 PROLONG (NCT039088476) is a multi-center, open-label, post-market study that prospectively observes subjects who switch to burst capable devices or DRG stimulation after loss of pain relief with their previous SCS system. Herein we report 12-month results of subjects who received DRG stimulation for their waning SCS therapy.
