Abstract
The paper discuses the trends in contemporary science research to massively use the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for their regular activities. The significance of ICT infrastructure as preliminary condition for successful research is analysed. The main European ICT infrastructure projects and their status in Bulgaria are presented. The conditions for successful development of ICT infrastructure for scientific research in Bulgaria are discussed.
