Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The practice of using ICSI for non-male factor patients has been criticized in the literature, including a lack of consensus on the safety of ICSI and its increased costs. The primary reason for using ICSI in treatment cycles without male factor infertility is to prevent fertilization failure. A group of patients identified as being at particular risk of fertilization failure with IVF are couples with primary unexplained infertility.
