Abstract
<p>Este artigo analisa charges produzidas na África do Sul como homenagem póstuma a Nelson Mandela. Por meio da análise do discurso chárgico, aferimos a importância simbólica do líder popular para a política nacional. Tomamos como referência o conceito de charge como uma prática discursiva e com características políticas, defendido por Miani (2011). As reflexões sobre a historiografia sul-africana foram desenvolvidas a partir de Jonge (1991) e Marinovich e Silva (2003).</p>
