Abstract
New ICN photochemical experiments [viz., observation of CN † (X 2Σ +)_chemical laser emission in the presence of rare gas atom collision partners and determination of the CN * (A 2Π i) fluorescence excitation spectrum] are reported and are used to clarify the mechanism of ICn photodissociation and predissociation in the 1550–2000 Å spectral region.
