Abstract
A key to 56 species of the genus Metopius Panzer known in the Palaearctic fauna is given. All the specimens are deposited in the collections of the Zoological Institute (the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg), the Institute of Zoology (the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, Kiev), and the Zoological Museum of Lomonosov Moscow State University. In addition to the diagnoses, the localities of these species in the countries of the CIS and adjacent territories are recorded. One new replacement name is proposed for Metopius clementi Tolkanitz, nom. n. (pro M. laticinctus Clement, 1930, non M. laticinctus Cresson, 1879). One species name is placed in synonyms: Metopius croceicornis Thomson, 1887 = M. vespulator Aubert, 1979, syn. n.
