SUMMARY Ice-nucleating capability of the kiwifruit vine, Actinidia deliciosa, was examined. Pseudomonas viridiflava, present as an epiphyte on the vine, was an effective icenucleating agent. The presence of other sources of ice nuclei on the surface of the vines, leaves and fruit, which could not be inhibited by anti-bacterial agents, was also demonstrated.
