Abstract
With the implementation of the ICANN’s new gTLD Program that is making the Internet domain name system (DNS) slate grow from 22 to thousands of top-level domains (TLDs), ICANN builds a series of right protection measures (RPMs) that require all new gTLD registries offer multiple safeguards, primarily, for intellectual property rights. The comprehensive and somewhat unprecedented RPMs include both the preventive measures as the Legal Right Objection (LRO) procedure, Sunrise and Trademark Claims and the curative measures as Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS), Post-Delegation Dispute Resolution Procedure (PDDRP) and Public Interest Commitment Dispute Resolution Process (PICDRP), covering both the top-level strings and sub-levels names before and after any new gTLDs are delegated by ICANN to the registries.
