Abstract

This IPTEKS (scientific-based community development sponsored by Minister of higher Education and Technology) for the community of cattle ranchers in Bontoloe Village, Bontolempangan Subdistrict, Gowa, is aimed at developing a kind of cattle breeders who are environmentally friendly and skilled in breeding through improving their cow cage management to be healthier and permanent, and utilization of dung (TASI) through solid and liquid TASI processing in order to produce organic fertilizer (production aspect). Output target is the availability of infrastructure to support the manufacture of organic fertilizer (compost) and liquid fertilizer (biourine) in the form of composter. Besides, it is expected to build skilled breeders who are able to cultivate to process TASI into a product in the form of organic fertilizer (compost), and liquid fertilizer from cow urine (bio-urine) as well as the establishment of healthy cattle breeder management. This will create a productive, healthy, and environmentally friendly cattle farm. IPTEKS activities implemented by the team are through some methods among others (1) gathering preliminary insight through observation, interview, and discussion activities; (2) The provision of infrastructure facilities that support the application of TASI processing into organic fertilizer (compost) and cow urine as liquid fertilizer (biourine); (3) providing counseling, training, performing demonstration, and assisting in making of composting and liquid organic fertilizer (biourine). (4) supplying local based-microorganism activator materials (MOL) and training the breeders of how make local activator (MOL), and (5) providing assistance of making and keeping healthy and environmentally friendly cage management. The results of the IPTEKS activities are to produce products such as organic fertilizer (compost), liquid fertilizer (biourine), local activator material (MOL) which all can become sources of income for farmers (cattle breeders) through selling the fertilizers. Other results are the creation of healthy cage condition and the establishment of environmentally friendly breeder.
