Abstract

Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr, D–IL, recently introduced H.R. 1113, legislation to expand research, prevention, and awareness of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The legislation has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where it awaits action. The American Gastroenterological Association applauds Representative Jackson for his commitment to IBD and other digestive diseases and continues to work with him and with the Digestive Disease National Coalition to advance this important legislation.
