Abstract

IATEFL’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) make a significant contribution to fulfilling IATEFL’s mission of linking, developing, and supporting ELT professionals throughout the world by providing a variety of publications, face-to-face and online events, and activities in their areas of special interest. The Association currently has 16 SIGs: Business English; ES(O)L; English for Specific Purposes; Global Issues; Inclusive Practices & Special Educational Needs; Leadership & Management; Learner Autonomy; Learning Technologies; Literature, Media & Cultural Studies; Materials Writing; Pronunciation; Research; Teacher Development; Teacher Training & Education; Testing, Evaluation & Assessment; and Young Learners & Teenagers. SIGs regularly produce publications for their members such as newsletters, journals, DVDs, books, and e-publications, and most of the content comes from SIG members themselves. The publications contain references to SIG activities and articles about research and developments in their area of interest, practical teaching ideas, developmental opportunities, and book reviews.
