Abstract

Roberto Garda describes his work with the Colectivo de Hombres por Relaciones Igualitarias, AC (CORIAC), an NGO that works with men who are violent in the home. With the Colegio de Mexico, CORIAC is sensitizing health personnel to the issues of masculinity, working with four men's groups in four cities of Mexico. Garda explores how the construction of masculinity can lead to men's violence in the home and some of the issues that have arisen in the running of the men's groups. He argues that it is important to listen to men's experiences as they open up to new viewpoints and hence to the need to change.
