Abstract

Elaine Edwards (pictured) is a gynaecology nurse specialist, nurse hsyteroscopist and staff governor at Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey: 'I became a governor nine months ago. It has put a lot of things into perspective for me. I took so much for granted before. For example, I did not realise how important the patient pathway codings are for ensuring the trust is paid accurately for GP-commissioned work. I am updated on all the changes that are going on. Meanwhile, the council of governors can learn from me about what is happening on the shop-floor.'
