Abstract

ABSTRACT Working with men in the capacity of as trainee, client or colleague is very challenging. Maintaining mutually beneficial and non-exploitive relationships requires a balance of nurturance and accountability. Through autobiography, self-reflection and critique of family systems training and Africentric thought, this paper provides a framework for supporting men to develop a feminist family therapy ideology. In addition, I introduce the Patriarchy to Partnership Trajectory, a clinical tool and assessment, which can be used to assist men in transforming their lives and establishing equitable and just relationships.
