•The corkscrew sign describes the hepatic arteries' tortuous appearance in the radiologic imaging of cirrhosis patients. •The corkscrew sign is accepted as a typical imaging finding of cirrhosis, as are surface nodularity and capsular retraction. •Tortuous hepatic arteries complicate selective catheterization during interventional procedures.
