Abstract

This autobiographical essay recounts the intellectual and professional journey that led the author to write his 1977 article on how to teach Slavic bibliology to the humanist and the social scientist. It seeks to contextualize the views expressed in the original talk at Oxford University and thereby to provide additional material for a future history of Slavic bibliographic instruction.
