Abstract

This article analyses active processes of derivation in the Russian language on the Internet. The analysis focuses on suffix models used to create phenomenon or object nouns; these models illustrate the main tendencies in new Russian word formation and reflect some special features of net communication. The derivational chains, their meanings and the principles of their functioning in communication are considered. The differences between literary language and net language are also explored. The results of the research can contribute to academic and practical descriptions of some aspects related to the grammar of contemporary Russian. The article also provides insights into development possibilities of the current Russian lexical system. Some theoretical conclusions are drawn which can contribute to the linguistic discussion about the nature of net language in Russian.
