I conflitti dell'abitare dalla lotta di classe alla "guerra tra poveri". Autoctoni e stranieri a Tor Sapienza (Roma)

Abstract

In the post-industrial city conflict moves from being a contradiction between classes to a contradiction inside the class. Sometimes described as a war among the poor the conflict involves natives and immigrants competing for access to housing, welfare services and common space in the same suburban neighbourhood. A deliberative experiment - the citizens’ jury - in Rome’s suburb of Tor Sapienza shows that expressing one’s needs and opinions together with listening to others can contribute to a more unbiased approach to problems and to a nonviolent conflict management.
