Abstract
Therapeutic stories are a powerful tool that offer a vast array of social and personal development to children, adolescents and adults, enriching their lives be it in a group or in a 1 to 1 setting. The life of a child, an adolescent or an adult with differences can be compared to the unicorn’s desire to survive in a somehow hostile world, in this case flooding. A study by Meringoff showed that a story told on the radio provided stimulation for children to create imaginative drawings. The goals were to provide the children with the opportunity to excel in areas other than the usual academic study, which is what parents and schools usually focus on. The daily activities were developed around 3 principles developed by Professor Sue Jennings, namely Embodiment, Projection and Role; most children are able to achieve this by the age of 7.
