Hz. Fâtıma’nın Allah Resûlü’ne Mersiye Şiirleri

Abstract

Hazrat Fatimah occupies a privileged place for the Messenger of Allah. Fatimah recited marsiyas after the martyrdom of the Prophet. Five marsiya poems of Hazrat Fatimah have been identified for the subject-matter. These marsiya poems are written in short makta instead of traditionally long Arabic poems. In these forms called makta, the focus is on the agony, sorrow, and emotional intensity felt by the poet after the martyrdom of Prophet. The poet desires to cry continuously until her death in order to alleviate her agony and to be relieved a little bit. The poet wants all Muslims who have received the news of the death of the Prophet to accompany her in every place by crying over his martyrdom. The poet thinks that Mount Uhud and the Kaaba, bearing the memories of the Prophet, must also weep. While the poet reflects the agony and emotional intensity that she feels in the heart to the couplets, she pays attention to adhere to values brought by the Islam faith. In order to make her agony and emotional intensity closer to the perception of the reader, the poet also uses examples of figure of speech that are common in ancient Arabic poetry tradition.
