Abstract
A case study of an adult female with hysterical high pitch is presented. A variation of the pushing approach was utilized to aid in establishing an appropriate pitch level and to prove to the patient that she was able to speak at her customary (normal) pitch level. Hysterical high pitch is presented as one of several disorders belonging to the larger classification of vocal conversion reactions.
