Abstract

The hysteresis behaviour is the most complex nonlinear property of giant magnetostrictive material, which is derived from the irreversible magnetisation of ferromagnetic material and influenced by the magnet-electrical, mechanical and thermal fields. The paper is focused on establishing and analysing the multi-coupled model of giant magnetostrictive material with hysteresis. The uneven distribution of the magnetic field along the giant magnetostrictive material bar is studied. The hysteresis model is established based on J-A model and Z-L model. The output property is analysed in both static and dynamic case: in the static case, influence of pre-stress and bias field is considered; in the dynamic case, the eddy current loss and abnormal loss is discussed. The analysed result provides a reference in optimisation and control of giant magnetostrictive material instruments.
