Abstract

Factitious hypoglycemia usually results from voluntary self-administration of insulin constituting a real metabolic emergency. Unresolved, it can lead to permanent brain damage and death. We report the case of a 17 years old female adolescent with factitious hypoglycemic episodes following inappropriate administration from an insulin pump. The interest of the case lies in its psycho-organic intricacies, constituting a real diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
