Abstract

The experimental studies of the process of hypervelocity (up to 6km/s) impact of a mm-size projectile on a thin aluminum plate is described. The numerical simulation of this process is presented. The data on the evolution, structure, and composition of the debris cloud formed as a result of the impact are reported. Basic specific features of the debris cloud formation are revealed.
