Abstract

Elastic phase shifts and scattering cross sections for electron-hydrogen scattering below the n=2 threshold are carefully evaluated using the hyperspherical close-coupling (HSCC) method. The results are compared to other benchmark calculations to illustrate the convergence properties of the HSCC method. Elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections between the n=2 and n=3 thresholds are also calculated and compared to other benchmark calculations. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
