Abstract

This paper describes the use of the hypermedia systems and tools † in the knowledge acquisition and in the specification of user interfaces for knowledge-based systems. A pragmatic approach that combines informal task analysis with object-oriented modelling is introduced. This is supported by a hypermedia-based specification and documentation tool for knowledge requirements and user interface requirements. This approach and the tool are illustrated with examples from a case study: a specification of an intelligent user interface for a statistical analysis package.
